I went to S2S Scuba last July to obtain my open water cert in preparation for a trip to Turks & Caicos. I made the mistake of waiting until the last minute- I could not manage to do the mask removal/flood skills without sucking water up my nose and freaking out. S2S staff tried to be soooo helpful. One gentleman (I believe his name was Alan) took me aside and worked with me for almost an hour trying to help me get the skill. He gave me 50 different ways to try and none worked so I went home in tears. I called the shop to ask what I should do and a young woman answered (I wish I remembered her name). When I explained my situation she told me something like “none of the required skills are impossible for anyone, that everyone is capable with time and practice”. This actually made a HUGE difference in my outlook. I grabbed the gear S2S had provided me, went into my pool (we are fortunate to have a pool but if I didn’t I would have used my bathtub!!) and practiced for hours until I got the skills down! I was now confident and hopeful. I called the shop the next morning and Fred Fidler, my primary instructor, answered. He was willing to come over for a private session that week and caught me up with the rest of the class in preparation for the open water dives the upcoming weekend. I simply cannot say enough good things about Fred and the rest of the team, including Stetson and Ralph who were part of our course. I felt so incredibly well prepared, comfortable and most importantly safe with the thorough and not rushed training that I received with S2S. We did our open water dives in lake pleasant and couldn’t see my hand in front of my face, but the way the staff prepared us for that experience and walked us through the skills- it was awesome! After that being my first OW dive anything was going to be an upgrade ;). I went on to do a ton of diving at Turks & Caicos, then on to Kona, HI and most recently to Savusavu, Fiji, including the Namena reserve with tons of pelagic mantas! To think I could have missed out on all of that if the incredible team at S2S was not there to support me!!

The sign is lit up, it’s hours say it should be open, but lights are off and it’s closed up tight. New phone number written with a marker taped to the door has no answer and no recording. Time to look for a new shop. The quality has gone way down. Sad.

My experience with Sea 2 Sea was great. The staff at the store patiently answered all of my questions….and there were so very many questions. They clearly all love diving and were excited to share their knowledge and personal experiences. Tobie, Stetson and Zac were fantastic both in the pool and lake. They were patient, kind, supportive and humorous as we all worked through our individual challenges. Fred is the zen Yoda of dive instructors. His calm, reassuring method of teaching was amazing. I’m looking forward to my first diving trip. Thank you all!

Fred and Elizabeth were terrific instructors and I highly recommend their expertise if you need to become a certified diver. Everything was easy to learn because of their friendly demeanor. This seemed complicated when I did my online courses but when we got into the pool and then the lake to start practicing they made the experience incredibly comfortable.
