Sharia’s Closet is a compassionate nonprofit dedicated to providing free, gently-used emergency clothing to individuals and families facing financial hardship or crisis. Originating from a heartfelt mission inspired by the founder's experiences both in Jamaica and the United States, the organization ensures that those in need can access essential clothing and hygiene items tailored to their specific situations. Their signature service involves creating personalized “Bags of Hope,” each containing 7 to 10 carefully hand-selected outfits along with necessary household essentials. These customized care bags empower recipients — from children needing confidence to attend school to adults requiring professional attire for interviews — by promoting self-esteem and a positive self-identity. Located in San Diego, CA, Sharia’s Closet collaborates closely with a broad network of community partners including schools, social service agencies, shelters, and churches to reach populations not typically accessing existing support. With walk-in hours six days a week and efficient referral-based distribution systems, it serves a wide demographic affected by unemployment, homelessness, domestic violence, disability, migration, and other crises. Their holistic approach extends to working alongside survivors of domestic and family violence to rebuild dignity through tailored wardrobe services. This nonprofit stands out in the community as a beacon of hope, restoring confidence and addressing basic needs with respect and care.

Donate your gently used or new items here... This is the only place that I will go as they try to help people & with such dignity. There's a whole team of people getting everything set up, cleaned, folded and separated to gift your donations to our families in need. As much as I love thrift shops, they receive items for free and resell them. So after finding this place, I will be only doing my donations here. I already paid for it once, so I would rather someone else get it because they need it. You can also get a tax receipt, and they will let you take a tour of how they do things.Amazing people, amazing place!!!!
