HORRIBLE experience with everything after the tour of the building. There’s SO much to complain about that I have to use bullet points. •Locked inside of my apartment for HOURS because the door handle came off. This happened TWICE. •Electric heaters stopped responding to thermostat and were on HIGHEST temperature for DAYS without being fixed. Management promised to reimburse me for the excess electricity used, but never did despite my request through emails. •ANY maintenance request comes with a minimum of a FOUR HOUR wait window. NO exceptions. •Garbage room is DISGUSTING and despite being “secured” bums somehow keep getting in. There is a regular who lives inside of the room- set up makeshift bed and takes cans for deposit $$. •NO breed restrictions on dogs and dogs are allowed to bark, howl, and run rambunctious throughout the units. •STRONG Marijuana odor throughout building. •Staff is unprofessional, often incompetent, and not motivated to address tenant concerns in a timely fashion. •Makes mistakes by posting 10-Day Notices on the WRONG doors. Happened to me twice.

I've rented with Star Metro for 3 years now and they are the best company I've ever had the pleasure of working with. Any requests for maintenance I've had are addressed quickly, usually within a day, even going so far as to add an extra lock on the trash room when asked to keep the homeless out. The property is clean and well maintained, the appliances are all new stainless steel and they regularly perform inspections of the fire and sprinkler system. Plus, in the time I've lived here they have not raised the rent on me which is different from any apartment I've ever lived in! Absolutely would recommend renting with them!

We were moving from out of state. This management company was the easiest and best to work for given our hesitation to move somewhere sight unseen. They were unbelievably accommodating and especially enjoyed working with Grace who was fast, on time and communicative. They take care of their properties and take pride in keeping them up and running well. ** Update One Year Later, Still going strong and renewed a lease with them again. Easy peasy. They also went above and beyond to ensure I felt safe and helped handle a quite alarming situation for me a few months ago. Thanks to their assistance and quick responses, that situation passed over easy and quickly. As always, thank you Grace & Patrick! & the wonderful maintenance team! I’m only writing this because I’m very surprised to see their overall rating considering I’ve always had a 5/5 experience with them. I lived at one of their units in Vancouver for a few years and had to leave rather unexpectedly. They were so helpful during that process and empathetic. My experience with them was so positive I ended up with them again, where I currently live — another process in which they went above and beyond to help me navigate. I have lived in four units of theirs now in both Portland and Oregon. Every unit was exactly as described. Their prices, in my opinion, are fair and considerably better than others that are similar in the same area. They are easy to get ahold of. They always communicate things effectively and thoroughly. Their office staff are knowledgeable, honest and extremely compassionate. We had a fire alarm incident recently at my last building and maintenance and one of the owners (I believe, maybe a manager) was at the building to respond/investigate before the fire department had even gotten there, they went out of their way to reassure concerned tenants outside that everything was okay and what happened. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone, they will make you feel like family.
