This is a weird court - it has everything you hate about clay and indoor hard combined. The clay is extremely compacted. The bounce is high and it’s also uneven making the bounces really funny. There’s nothing to bag the court to smooth out the surface. Also because it’s so compacted, good luck moving like you move on clay and since it’s indoor, it’s not as slow like a normal clay court. Just a weird playing experience… Also beware booking the court 1 and 5 because they blast huge fans right next to it so good luck to your ball flight Not worth playing full price imo, better going through the NYC park permit

This review was originally written on yelp on 11/2023 but just removed, I have confirmed not only has the facility not improved, they now have RATS! Therefore, my original review still stands. This place is shockingly and surpassingly bad! Disastrous! One star is for the fact they offer tennis, that's it. I've just returned to nyc, so I thought-- great, a bubble in the hood, little did I know how disgusted I'd be. I don't write reviews, but I was encouraged to because it's just horrible and they know it. It's located conveniently for many, but staff is beyond vile, unhelpful, and unprofessional. air quality is poor, clay on the courts very dry and thin. The place is noisy and bathrooms are from the 1960s. It's a FILTHY place, warm in summer, freezing in winter(as per my partner). If you can stomach it, only come here with a parks permit to play on the cheap in summer. it is all around incompetence. I found other players to be unfriendly with an unwelcoming feeling here from all. If you want to improve or play in a nice atmosphere, this place will be a major disappointment. The drills are overcrowded, erratic, and it's mostly 3.0+ play. seeing the other negative reviews on Yelp and here confirms my thoughts and gives me some comfort. And as I sought other tennis options, all I came across was horrific stories regarding Sutton East. These people are down right mean and unscrupulous. Such as, underpaid employees, bullying, obnoxious pros, evil management, mistreatment, kicking out players, harassing players, and spreading slanderous gossip about players. For the most part, all around VERY negative vibe and only negative feedback about this NASTY place.

Great indoor surface and consistent, reasonable booking policy. Nets between courts are overall nice to have . Always busy. . .

Great surface and consistent, reasonable booking policy. Nets between courts are overall nice to have, but can constrict play on the courts without doubles alleys (I think court 3 and court 6). However if everyone is OK with it, the nets between courts could be removed to give some more space on side lines.

Love this place, the front desk team is very awesome and helpful. Drill/play 2-hr sessions are great, could use a more frequent ball restock as the inventory for classes is quite dead. No match arranging services but there’s a signup list for anyone looking to pair up and it’s quite easy to find players nearby.
