This was my first Bottle. The pros: 1. An "L" shaped viewing area with a corner stage allows people to bypass the middleby going through a center "hallway" to get to the bar, merch area, and bathrooms. 2. $4 PBR on draft 3. Plenty of bang for your buck, with great acts playing to dedicated fans in an intimate setting. The cons: 1. Even though it's a smaller venue, tall dudes still stand in front of you 2. The sound was good, but maybe because of the shape of the venue, there's a lot of variability. 3. Parking is somewhat limited, but not bad if you don't mind a bit of a walk

This place is just fantastic. Great concerts of all kinds, especially punk rock concerts. Plenty of free parking right on Western Avenue. I parked right in front of the bar last night.

They have pool table and wonderful live music played by a variety of bands! If you like to two-step it’s a great spot to dance. They also had a beginner lesson if you wanted to learn how to do it!

I've only been to the Empty Bottle one time, but it was a decent little place. It's certainly a dive bar. I thought the audio was terrible however. If I go there again I'll try another location, maybe that'll help?

My previous post vanished as I hit the post button. Here goes again: I love the Bottle and have been going almost every Friday night for 24 years. I brought my kids as infants. They still go when in town. It is a family friendly place. In fact I’ve been teaching a free two step lesson at Honky Tonk Happy Hour (Friday 5pm–7pm) for 23 years. The Hoyle Brothers are the band and you gotta check them out. There is a crowd of “regulars” who all learned how to dance here. It’s a very open and welcoming place. We will teach you how to dance. We have a costume party on Halloween, an ugly sweater contest at Xmas and we generally have a great time together. You are invited! Pro tip: it’s free cover but you should tip the band generously. Also the key to two step is: quick quick slow slow. A good friend now teaches the lesson as I’m a flight attendant and rarely in town on weekends. The Bottle is owned by Bruce Finkelman (he owns a few other amazing places all over town, Thalia to name one). The music at The Bottle is varied all week. They have nightly drink specials. The staff. Omg. The staff are AMAZING. This is a Chicago institution. In my opinion they took over from Lounge Ax as the place for alternative music, kinda hard core. So its especially neat that they host the most famous continuous Honky Tonk gig in town (hell probably in the USA).
