Grateful to The Writer's Workshop for the brilliant introduction to Montalcino and the immediate area, not to mention the signature wine of the region, Brunello di Montalcino. The writing workshop itself was rigorous and of great practical use -- as I've found all of Nick's workshops to be -- and the accommodations and dining options were thoughtfully selected. The trip’s timing and value made it possible for me to bookend a few other stops into my time in Italy, and I’m grateful for the thoughtfulness that made that possible.

Extraordinary opportunity to improve writing, challenge yourself with classmates and a terrific instructor, who made the trip most culturally memorable; I learned TONS about many aspects of writing and loved the daily outings and cultural activities that gave me a splendid feel for Tuscany. I want to LIVE there now!

Nick O'Connell puts together a wonderful experience for both experienced and non-experienced writers with The Writer's Workshop. I was a plus-one to my wife who was taking Nick's class. The venue was in the town of Montalcino in Tuscany Italy. This is much more than just a travel writing class. Everything that Nick put together from the location in Tuscany to the hotel, sightseeing, wine tasting and dinners was well thought out and top notch. Whether a writer or as I was the plus-one, it is and was a week to remember. I look forward to seeing where Nick's next "adventure" will take his group. Bravo !

The Writer’s Workshop feathers between theory and practice in such an artful way. Not only did I gather great insights about the craft of writing, I found many opportunities to apply them to my stories. Nick and peers offered constructive feedback, shared their own work, and created an encouraging environment for the arduous, lonely work of writing. This was just the push I needed to get moving on several projects — I am beyond thankful.

I enjoyed Nick's classes very much as I knew nothing about what it takes to write something for publication. I always thought the words in books and magazines just magically fell from the sky into some writer's pen where they were then transcribed onto paper. Turns out writing is work, and like other work, there are tools and systems and processes to do it well. Like other work, it takes practice. Yikes! I'm mostly glad Nick introduced me to the very beginnings of the writing process, although, I'm not gonna lie, I'll continue to hold out hope that the words will just magically fall from the sky.
