Sadly this is not the same experience I remember before COVID. The kayaks were definitely a different kind and the storage unit was clearly not maintained. I realize the difference now is that the kayaks were not sit inside but sit on top. It was hard to maintain my center of balance and my husband ended up capsizing thus ending our adventure before to ever really got started. I'm not saying don't use this service but I am saying be aware it most definitely isn't what it used to be the equipment was not well maintained.

Unsafe Equipment and Rude Service I had an extremely concerning experience with Wakerack's self-service kayak rental. One of the kayaks we used began rapidly taking on water and sinking mid-lake, putting my brother and I in a dangerous situation. When I called their support line to report this, I was repeatedly told it was "user error," despite the clear issue being a damaged or uninspected kayak. It took over 3 hours for anyone to come inspect the equipment—meanwhile, we were stranded. Even when a worker (Eric) finally arrived, he confirmed the kayak was broken and acknowledged that I had risked my life due to faulty gear. Still, there was no apology from support, just deflection and attitude. The kayak was unsafe, the support team was rude and dismissive, and the storage area was filthy—a stark contrast to other self-service companies like Lime Scooters, where equipment is regularly inspected and customer safety is prioritized. It’s clear Wakerack does not take safety seriously, and I would not recommend them to anyone. This was a completely avoidable safety hazard caused by negligence.

Had multiple issues with our reservations: 1. They had a decommissioned kayak 2. Because of 1, they were out of kayaks and substituted a paddle board instead 3. Insufficient kayak paddles, including in their spare locker

Charged us extra for "damaged" paddle even though we left it in perfect condition. Then he said since we didn't report the damage, so he had to charge us which makes no sense because how can you report something that isn't there
