Visiting Westland Distillery was an unforgettable experience, and having Jenna as our guide made it all the more exceptional. Her deep knowledge, enthusiasm, and ability to make complex topics feel engaging and accessible made the tour one of the most informative I’ve ever had—not just about Westland, but about American single malt as a whole. The handfill experience is a true highlight. There’s something incredibly special about being able to draw your own bottle straight from the cask, knowing it’s something unique to your visit. It’s an experience that connects you to the spirit in a personal, tangible way. The shop and tasting area are absolutely stunning—modern, inviting, and a true showcase of Pacific Northwest craftsmanship and design. And don’t even get me started on the labs. Seeing where Westland conducts their experiments and innovation is like stepping into the future of American whiskey. From heirloom barley strains to unusual cask types, it’s clear that Westland isn’t just following trends—they’re setting them. As American single malt is now officially recognized as its own category, it’s exciting to know that Westland is at the forefront of this movement. They’re not just making great whiskey; they’re defining what American single malt is and what it can be. If you’re a whiskey lover, a stop at Westland is an absolute must.

Surprisingly good selection of locally crafted whiskey. They had 9 varieties available and all were enjoyable as well as unique. My favorite were the single barrel selections they had, and the heavily peated was the best of the three. Staff was great, did a good job explaining the variety of options.

This tour was good but it is a business and most of the whisky making is done on another location From the beginning to the end, I learned quite a bit about past and current TN whisky history and laws. Our welcome escort was polite and obviously knows her stuff. Xavier was our main guide. He was informative and able to answer all types of questions. A good amount of walking time outside on flat paved paths. Just be prepared if the heat or sun gets to you easily. You can taste four whiskeys on the tour. Not a whisky fan, so I am not a good judge to say if the Whisky is of quality. We had heard of this tour through our son. Glad we went, suggest making reservations if you want to go on a tour. It is a business, make no mistake, but it is a good thing to do.

You can get a neat flight or a cocktail flight! We got both! Enjoyed the flavors and discovering which and how we liked the whiskeys! Definitely recommend if you're new to whiskeys. We aren't, but we enjoyed sampling as if we were because it helped us pick which one we'd really enjoy!
