Theater has great air-conditioning. It's an intimate theater. Clean theater. Every seat has a great view. Bathrooms well kept and fresh.

Cozy little theater (~89 seats). Not really a bad seat in the house due to the size. Stage entrances are upstage left and right, no wings. Very good acoustics for the play I saw, and the lighting coverage is very well done. I hope to see more shows here in the future. Easy to get to with a lot of dining and bars in the surrounding area.

Amazing and intimate theater space. They support talented creatives and give them somewhere to showcase that work and expose the community to powerful stories. I've been in two productions of work by the talented Cyrus Aaron there and look forward to to doing/collaborating with them more.

What makes Wild Project’s commitment to sustainability important for visitors?

Environmentally-conscious patrons will find an added bonus to visiting Wild Project: its pioneering, ongoing commitment to ecological sustainability. From its opening in 2007, Wild Project was one of New York City’s first eco-friendly small venues, and it continues to adhere to this philosophy robustly. Solar panels on the roof help to power the theater, while a rooftop garden contributes to urban greening and air quality improvement. The theater’s seating risers are constructed from repurposed bamboo, and only biodegradable products are used at their concessions to minimize environmental impact.

For groups looking to not just enjoy art but also support venues aligning with their values, this green ethos is a compelling reason to choose Wild Project. It ensures that your outing is not only culturally enriching but also socially responsible, contributing to a larger mission of sustainability and environmental stewardship. Supporting a nonprofit theater with a clear and active environmental mission gives your group something extra to feel good about—a shared experience with both artistic and ethical dimensions.

How does Wild Project support and sustain independent art and artists?

At the heart of Wild Project is an unwavering dedication to independent, emerging, and underrepresented artists, making it a deeply meaningful place for art lovers to gather and support creative innovation. This nonprofit space serves as a vital platform for artists often overlooked by commercial theaters, offering them room to experiment, develop their craft, and present original work. Over the past two decades, it has cultivated a reputation as a downtown treasure that has helped launch the careers of numerous performers and playwrights.

The theater's current campaign to purchase its East Village building underlines its commitment to a permanent home for independent arts in New York City. Owning the building would secure Wild Project’s place in the community, safeguarding a rare and important space that fosters artistic freedom and cultural diversity. As a result, groups meeting here have the opportunity to support a vibrant, living arts culture and contribute to sustaining the city’s rich history of avant-garde and socially conscious performance art.

Does Wild Project offer a welcoming and accessible environment for all visitors?

Yes, Wild Project prides itself on being an intimate, inclusive, and welcoming space for diverse audiences. The small theater size helps create an accessible environment where patrons can fully engage with content and each other without barriers typical of larger venues. Accessibility is enhanced by comfortable seating, intimate sightlines, and a front gallery allowing people to mingle and connect before and after shows.

The venue’s team works hard to maintain a warm, community-oriented atmosphere, reinforcing a safe space for artists and audiences alike to come together. It encourages dialogue around the arts, social issues, and community experiences, making every visit not just entertainment but a chance to broaden perspectives. Whether you are coming with a group of longtime friends, family members, or newcomers who appreciate indie theater and eco-conscious values, Wild Project welcomes all with open arms, making it an excellent choice for a meaningful, enjoyable meetup.

What are some examples of the kinds of performances you might see?

Visitors can expect a diverse array of innovative performances, from intimate two-handers that explore complex human relationships to experimental cabaret and new musical works. For example, productions like “The Ask,” a taut, compelling two-character play dealing with social ethics and charity, showcase the kind of thought-provoking material Wild Project presents. These performances are often debuting new works or pushing theater boundaries, offering your group a chance to witness original art before it reaches wider audiences.

Similarly, the theater hosts shows blending humor, social commentary, and raw emotion that invite reflection and discussion long after the curtain falls.
