Five stars for the location and for being a smaller grocery store, because I hate having to go through a bazillion aisles to get 4 things like I have to deal at Fry’s or Safeway. Their recent interior refresh was great in that they created more visual space while working with the same square footage. Unfortunately, the color palette they selected for the lounge area is very dated. Massive missed opportunity to make shoppers feel bogie while spending that extra 20%. IMO, the best feedback always comes from the four star reviews.

As someone who has been a loyal AJ’s Fine Foods customer for awhile , I’ve always appreciated the quality of their products and the overall experience especially on weekends when I treat myself to their lemonade and a freshly made sandwich from the bistro. It’s been a routine I genuinely look forward to. But after what happened today, I’m not sure I’ll be returning any time soon. The experience I had at the bistro was, frankly, appalling. The staff was not only incredibly slow but downright rude. I waited patiently to place my order, only to be met with attitude and indifference. It seemed like the employees couldn’t be bothered to provide even basic customer service. To make matters worse, they were out of most of the bread options. We’re not talking about obscure or specialty items they were out of nearly all the standard choices. When I asked what was available, I got a shrug and a short, unhelpful response as if I was being difficult just by asking. But the most frustrating part? In the middle of making my sandwich, the employee who had started it clocked out and walked away without a word. No “I’m sorry,” no hand-off to another worker nothing. I was left standing there wondering what was going on, only to have to wait even longer for someone else to pick up where they left off. I’ve never experienced such unprofessionalism in any food service setting, let alone at AJ’s, where I’ve come to expect a certain level of class and care. This was the worst, most low-class customer service I’ve ever received at any grocery store, period. It felt like the staff had no interest in doing their jobs, let alone in providing the kind of experience AJ’s is supposed to represent. Management needs to take a serious look at what’s happening in their bistro department, because this kind of treatment will drive even your most loyal customers away. I’m beyond disappointed. AJ’s, you can—and should do better.

If i could rate this lower i would. I love this location and have shopped here for years but the last times i have been in, i have had the uncomfortable interaction with Maggie the cashier. She loves to vent to customers about work place drama, and this past Tuesday when i was in for dinner items she was ranting to me and other customers in line about the bakery manager and how she was talking to her team all laughing and giggling. I saw no customers in line and the bakery is actually my favorite department in the store. They are always so cheerful and willing to help, and the manager herself has helped me customize orders and accommodate me. Its unfortunate to have to hear about her personal dislikes while i just want dinner items. Not just that but as employees were walking by she kept repeating the same things to them spreading the hatred. I would have just complained to the manager on duty (shorter women, always wears a hat) but she seems to feed into this cashiers drama. I will no longer shop here due to unprofessional. So disappointed, I thought this was a high end establishment.
