Harmons at City Creek just couldn't be a better place to shop for groceries, drugstore items, pastries and bread, coffee and gelato, etc. It's well-run, well-stocked, and altogether a pleasant place to shop, conveniently located for those staying at hotels or other facilities in downtown Salt Lake The quality of the products Harmons carries is very high – lots of organic produce and meats, health-oriented products you may have to hunt for in other grocery stores like flours made from ancient grains, etc. The bakery produces very high-quality breads, including a 7-grain bread with seeds that contains no sugar, dense, rich, healthy, and tasty. The cafe makes good coffee and gelatos, and usually has excellent pastries, though a new manager of the cafe has been – disappointingly – cutting down on ordering and displaying things like croissants to promote packaged baked goods, something that seems to us a big mistake. When weather is nice, there's lots of pleasant seating outside for those drinking coffee or eating pastries, or enjoying meals of the good prepared items on offer at steam tables near the produce section, or the salad bar near the cafe. We appreciate that Harmons has quick, efficient checkout and bagging folks, lots of them, and that the store doesn't herd you to the self-checkout section as so many places now do. We'd give our eye teeth to have a chain like Harmons near us. But since that's not a possibility, we will keep making a beeline to the City Creek Harmons anytime we're in Salt Lake.

I visited this store twice while in town, and both experiences with the staff were disappointingly rude. The store itself is clean and well-stocked with great offerings, but the customer service is seriously lacking. During my first visit, I politely asked the cashier for paper bags. She responded with attitude, acted like it was an inconvenience, and didn’t even double-bag my items — despite the checkout line next to hers having double paper bags ready to go. She exchanged odd looks with the bagger and muttered something about running out of bags, which felt unnecessary and unprofessional. On my second visit, I had just undergone a medical procedure and was wearing a mask. I used self-checkout to purchase a pack of pads and a chocolate bar. After scanning both items, I set them down and reached for my wallet — the machine claimed one item hadn’t been scanned. Thinking it was my bag triggering the sensor, I moved it aside. An employee rushed over, yanked the chocolate bar, scanned it without a word, sighed dramatically, and walked off. The attitude was completely uncalled for. The team needs serious training in basic courtesy and professionalism.

Good experience overall. Plenty of parking (free). A lot of good and diverse grocery options. Quite expensive though, but yeah, they are located in the downtown of SLC. One thing that disappointed me was that the eclair I ordered was FROZEN inside... which gave me a big unexpected experience... they should warn the customer... :(

I've always had great experiences shopping at Harmons. The store is clean, well organized, and the staff throughout most departments are consistently helpful and friendly. However, I did have a less than-positive interaction at the small gelato/coffee shop on the upper level. The woman working there on Saturday yesterday night around 7 pm didn’t seem very welcoming and her attitude came off a bit cold, which stood out since Harmons is typically known for its excellent customer service.
