The set up of the theater in the round with multiple levels was really neat - and while I didn't know ahead of time (I would've, had I read my email) you can go early and there are dancers interacting with guests before the show and serving drinks. Such a neat place! And the show was incredible of course!

This is a love letter to the cast and crew of this production of Cabaret which I experienced on Tuesday, May 27th at 7pm. I don't really like musicals all that much with a few exceptions and had little to no idea what this show was about other than the mainstream knowledge that has been around since forever. We booked a stage side table and let me tell you, it was worth every penny we spent on it. We spent two months putting together outfits and as kids these days say, "We understood the assignment." Enough about that. Being part of the set dressing was beyond my wildest expectations and the staff and cast made sure we knew what was what. The show itself is such a Broadway standard and to see it with fresh eyes was exactly what I wanted and apparently needed. Orville Peck and Gabi Campo(understudy to Eva; Gabi, you transported me to the Cabaret and I will be forever grateful for that) owned the stage as did the rest of the cast including Calvin Leon, Ellen Harvey, and Steven Skybell. As a long time WWII history researcher, it hit me especially hard during various moments given that I had no idea where the plot was headed. Yes, that was me weeping gently as the story unfolded and I thank you all for such a memorable evening. My first Broadway show ever! IKR!

Seeing Cabaret at the August Wilson Theatre is more than just catching a Broadway revival—it’s like being swept straight into the wild pulse of 1930s Berlin. The whole place transforms the second you walk in; the Kit Kat Club’s decadent glow wraps around you, with the set and lighting turning the theater into a world of its own. Music floats through the air, bridging the gap between smoky jazz joints and that unmistakable Broadway sound, lingering in your head long after you leave. You’re not just an observer here. The audience sits around a circular stage, VIP tables hugging the edges, pulling everyone deep into the story. Show up early and you’ll slip right into the club’s energy and the performers are already in character, mingling and setting the scene, so by the time the first note rings out, the line between audience and show already feels blurred. When I went, Adam Lambert was making his Broadway debut as the Emcee, and he was incredible—his powerhouse vocals and technical range gave the songs real bite. But it’s his acting that really connects, layering the character with both German complicity and the resilience of a queer survivor. You feel every shift, his performance doesn’t just bring complexity to the Emcee, it lifts the whole production.

The best performance experience of my life. Everything about the venue is thoughtful for an immersive experience, from the amazing staff to the theater in the round to the no camera policy (I loved this, so refreshing to just experience something with people without having cameras out and screens everywhere). As soon as the show ended, I started thinking about how I could pull off seeing the show again. I thought our seats wouldn't be great as they were among the cheapest in the house, but every seat has an incredible view. Extremely grateful to have been able to experience my favorite performer as the emcee, Orville Peck was somehow even better than I could imagine, and the rest of the cast was absolutely perfect as well. Having trouble re-entering the real world mentally after the experience, in the best way. 💙🌈🍍🎭

Why is the Kit Kat Club’s immersive theater experience distinctive and crowd-pleasing?

The Kit Kat Club's immersive theater design is one of its strongest draws. Unlike traditional theaters where the audience is fixed in rows, this venue encourages a round-the-room experience with the stage and performers close to the audience on all sides. This creates a "theater in the round" environment that makes every seat feel intimate and personal yet dynamic. Being so near to the actors and involved in the show’s unfolding plot heightens emotional engagement, creating a unique shared experience for groups. Actors often step off the stage to interact with the audience, breaking the fourth wall, which not only amplifies the excitement but also encourages friends to respond together, laugh, and be part of the moment.

Such proximity and involvement in the performance contrast sharply with many Broadway shows and foster a more relaxed, playful, and open ambiance—ideal for a group outing that wants something beyond the expected. The bar areas function not just as refreshment points but as social hubs where friends can gather to share impressions of the show or simply enjoy each other's company before or after the performance.

Unlike standard theaters where seats are fixed in rows facing forward, many seats at the Kit Kat Club are arranged around tables, which replicates a night out at a stylish cabaret or supper club. This setup invites conversation, toasting, and communal dining — all valuable for creating a warm, connected group environment. The food and drink service complements the theatrical experience, with many guests treating themselves to a night of indulgence that includes not only seeing a world-class show but also enjoying an upscale dining experience.
