This was such a super informative and fun experience! Susan and Jo Ann are so sweet, helpful, and patient! I came here for a bachelorette party shindig and they even offered us a bit of bubbly afterwards! I highly recommend Mud Lily Pottery!

The 9th Wedding Anniversary theme is pottery, so my romantic and thoughtful husband booked us a date night pottery class. It was fun getting our hands dirty and we made some wacky looking artifacts that we are waiting to pick up (they glaze and fire them for you). Can't wait to see how they turned out. :0 The instructor was super friendly and helpful with questions, but in general had a "learn by doing" attitude and left us to work independently. I think a glass of wine would have made the class more fun for everyone, but we had a great time anyway and would definitely recommend it to couples for a more experiential date night. :)

Showed up for a date night throwing session and had a blast! Our teacher was super awesome, and was lucky to have some very kind classmates alongside us. Great environment for complete newcomers and experienced clay enjoyers

Did a date night workshop with my husband and it was really fun! Raf was our instructor and he was great - very upbeat and patient. We will display our wonky bowl with pride.

Came tonight for their date night workshop and I had fun, but I WOULD NOT recommend for beginners. The instructor was not patient at all, she was honestly rude and a little condescending for everyone who were beginners (which was basically everyone at the workshop tonight). Everytime I had questions, she seemed very disinterested in answering or helping me learn the basics of pottery. I couldn't even get past the first two steps of the process. I'm very disappointed as I was very excited for this workshop. I would recommend for BEGINNERS to go somewhere else; I've seen other pottery studios in San Diego that I feel would be more welcoming for beginners.

What practical tips should groups keep in mind when planning a meetup at Mud Lily?
To make the most out of your group visit to Mud Lily, some practical planning can enhance the experience. First, it’s advisable to book your session in advance to ensure availability, especially for larger groups or weekend time slots, as the studio’s intimate size means sessions can fill quickly. Communicating your group’s experience level and interests to the staff ahead of time can help tailor the class or workshop to your needs.
Consider dressing in comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting a bit of clay on, and know that aprons are usually provided. Arriving a bit early allows time to settle in and be briefed by instructors. If your meetup includes a mixed group of children and adults, inquire about age-appropriate classes or supervision policies.
