Just finished my Basic 1 Sailing classes last weekend and absolutely enjoyed the experience. Very hands on with the majority of time being spent on the water in a boat with three other students. The instructor (Cliff) was excellent and imparted both necessary skills and good theory/practice. The course materials are well written and help ease you into a lot of new vocabulary and ideas. Highly recommend to anyone thinking about learning how to sail!

My son-in-law and I have just completed our 6 lessons for about $350- an incredible value! We spent 90% of the time sailing with a small class and a wonderful instructor. The other 10% was learning to tie knots and going over our course book which was full of sailing information, diagrams and info about sailing along the river here in Portland. Anyone looking to learn to sail and wanting to get a lot of hands-on experience should come here!

We loved our six Basic 101 classes. We were lucky to have Cliff as our instructor (he's the owner). We learned so much from him and he pushed us, which was great! He was really good at reading the students, their strengths and weaknesses. The book you get with the class is also written by Cliff. It's a perfect book for those who are just getting started. We highly recommend the Portland Sailing Scool.

Portland Sailing Center is a relaxed, focused and expert training facility for keelboat sailing in the Portland area. Cliff Mason and his instructors are experienced and patient. They use a superb text book that was written specifically for their training location on the Columbia River. The training focuses on actual sailing. Little time is spent in the classroom. Each lesson is built on the previous lessons and we were constantly challenged with new materials and skills. It was a good time and you learn to sail too!

Took Sailing 1 with Cliff. He is so patient and knowledgeable. The class was awesome and his book made passing the course easy. And was a hard student. 😂 This is the only sailing school you should go to. I don’t know why more students don’t post reviews.
