When I was a child, my father presented me with a check for a million dollars. I don't remember hesitating about where I would be investing my windfall. As this was in the 1970s, Ridgewood Pharmacy (once housed the lunch counter grill in the back, where the grilled cheese sandwich you ordered was fried in mayonnaise-not-butter,) was later replaced by a bigger conglomerate. I can still conjure up those pangs of excitement wildly coursing through my being, imagining what all I'd do with the luxurious beauty products generously stocked on the shelves, but I long ago lost track of what I did with that check for safekeeping, along with all my corresponding visions of ownership grandeur. Now many decades have passed, and have completely transformed that 1970s world. And even though loans for that amount are readily available these days, 1 million dollars might help furnish a couple of shares in Ridgewood Pharmacy's replacement.

I went for an Amazon return, which was super easy. Ended up grabbing an easy dinner from the hot food bar.

Older, quirky, and cool little center right off the beltway. This is one of the original Whole Foods stores, which are my favorite. Alwsys friendly people and they have the fresh food allowed during the pandemic. The sliced pizza is good and they have the full meat counter and vegetable selection. There’s all sorts of little shops in the center. There is easy access from downtown and off the beltway.
