Hockey parents and players, do yourself a solid and check out the Hockey Development Center in San Diego! Our family of 6 had the best time skating around on the indoor synthetic ice and testing out the skating treadmills. Brandon was absolutely amazing from start to finish. He worked with my 6 and 8 year old hockey players to improve their skills with huge smiles plastered across their faces the entire time! He even helped rookie player mom learn a thing or two (actually a lot more). At the same time, my teen and tween worked with Tori who immediately identified areas of strengths and weaknesses, pushed them to be the best skaters they could be, all while keeping it fun. My husband, a hockey coach and more advanced player got his own turn and admitted to getting a better workout in a single session than playing multiple games each week. We cannot wait to go back!

What technology and methodology make HDC San Diego stand out? HDC San Diego uses a scientifically backed methodology combined with cutting-edge technology that sets it apart from typical training facilities. Central to this approach is the HDC skating analysis powered by artificial intelligence, which evaluates each player’s skating stride in detail. This analysis helps trainers provide tailored advice and measure improvements over time, making training results tangible and motivating. The center is also equipped with two HST (High-Speed Training) treadmills designed specifically to replicate on-ice skating mechanics, something rare for off-ice facilities. These treadmills allow for highly focused work on power, balance, and speed. Additionally, the shooting zone uses synthetic ice to simulate puck handling and shooting in realistic conditions without the need for an actual rink, meaning players can train year-round regardless of weather. The facility's gym complements these tools by focusing on hockey-specific strength development aligned with biomechanical principles. This holistic approach enables personalized, measurable, and progressive training rooted in modern sport science. It also supports the facility’s philosophy of starting and ending training with diagnostic testing to track progress and adjust programs accordingly, enhancing the effectiveness of group and individual sessions.
