I've been a client at Brown & Feline for over 15 years. I see a handful of their senior stylists but I have had excellent results with walking in and being seen by the newest stylists. In over 15 years, I've never had a bad cut and/or color. The salon itself is clean, well decorated, and there always seems to be an upbeat vibe. Staff is extremely helpful and always returns calls, etc. Prices are pretty fair and reasonable for the quality. I highly recommend this salon!

Edited to add: I emailed the salon and asked them to offer a refund or partial refund and they rudely refused. Biggest scam. I had a long awaited appointment with my regular stylist (who has her own salon) but she canceled last minute and I decided to try a same day appointment at this salon while I had the childcare. I wish I had just waited and rescheduled with my regular hairdresser. The girl who did my hair at B&D was super sweet and super young but when I made the appointment I explained my hair is very long and thick and I was coming in for a balayage and cut- I figured they would put me with someone who was really familiar with that kind of service but no. First I was quoted $415 for the service which is a LOT - slightly more than my regular stylist, but I figured the quality of the service would reflect the cost. I talked about wanting a razor cut - a long shag with lots of layers - but she decided to cut with scissors instead and took a very hesitant approach. I stressed that I recently had a trim and was growing out my hair and did NOT want to lose any length. Somehow I lost 4 inches of length. I talked about wanting a shadow root and my stylist just flat out didn’t do that. My highlights are chunky, not a lot of foils considering I have a massive amount of hair and this was a full highlight. She overtoned me the first time and I spoke up and said hey this isn’t as bright as I asked for (I had an inspiration picture) and there were some serious blunt lines in areas where she highlighted. She was kind and apologized profusely and took me back to the shampoo bowl to strip out the toner and redo it. I was there over six hours total. I was unsure about it when I left but the longer I sit with it at home and style it myself the more upset I am with my results. It looks like I went to great clips and got a really bad service. I need to get in with my usual hairdresser dresser asap to clean up this mess. I have been dousing my hair in purple shampoo because it is so brassy but it’s not enough. I have chunky yellow-orange highlights when I specifically asked for a bright cool blonde balayage. My mom is a hairdresser (out of state) and I did a couple of months of hair school. I don’t pretend to be a professional but I know enough to know I got got.

Bad experience. My daughter has curly mix girl hair. It’s euro texture, so it only needs a flat iron to straighten it, no Relaxer. David is the only black guy in the shop. Swore he knew how to do her hair. Nope! He was rude, and complained the whole time. My daughter was in tears when I picked her up. The receptionist wouldn’t allow me to report him to management. It was just bad. Don’t say you know how to do a hair type if you really don’t!

I got a haircut on Friday, and it looked decent but not like the inspiration pictures because it was styled when I left, but as soon as I washed it the bangs were clearly a half inch shorter on one side of my face and much shorter than I had wanted them to be. I probably wouldn’t have left a review about that except when I called to let them know it had come out badly and cancel the next appointment, the receptionist was just like “okay bye” instead of trying to fix things.
