Hi there! Without a doubt, one of the Best days on the water! I am a boater, and live in the San Diego area, most weekends you will find me with family and friends on the water 🌊. Many times I’ve seen the Dolphins play in and around us, However, never like this! Being eye level, at the bow of the vessel, hearing the tails of the dolphins slap down as they played in the water and hearing them as they moved through the water was electrifying, it was an experience I will never forget. The passion and knowledge Susan and Matthias have for the ocean and all of the amazing sea life is so inspiring to not only listen to, but to also have them share with us. If you are looking for a meaningful, life changing experience on the water, this is it! This was on my 86 year old mom’s bucket list to do and she was right up front with us! All 4 of her daughters got to see tears in her eyes as we all enjoyed this very special moment! Those adventurers that don’t mind getting wet… be out front and “Lean In”. To have only the ocean and sea life in your vision was ✨ magical! No boat, was in my eyesight and I truly felt like I was body surfing and swimming with them, I also was crying!! A moment forever in my heart ♥️ and Soul!

What an incredible experience! We had the absolute pleasure of going out on a tour with Big Blue Photo Boat during our visit to San Diego, and it was without a doubt one of the highlights of our trip. Not only did we witness hundreds of dolphins, but we were also lucky enough to see whales and offshore sea lions—it was truly magical. What made this tour stand out above all others, though, was Susan and Matthias. I’ve been on many boat trips across the Pacific, Atlantic, and even the Indian Ocean, but this one felt different. The depth of knowledge they shared, paired with their clear passion and connection to the ocean and its wildlife, made the experience unforgettable. Their presence added a meaningful, personal dimension that you rarely find. It was a true pleasure to ride with BBPB. We left feeling inspired, informed, and incredibly grateful.

Wow wow wow!! Seriously the highlight of my trip to San Diego! Our guides (a captain and a marine biologist) were so knowledgeable, kind and really went out of their way to find us a blue whale. We spent an extra two hours on the boat at no charge and got to see such amazing sea life! You will not regret booking with this company!

We had a PHENOMENAL experience with Big Blue Photo Boat this past Saturday morning. Susan was so gracious and welcoming - she made us feel like family. We felt very safe on The Protector and had absolutely no issues with motion sickness or temperature (thanks to the blankets Susan provided!). Although we were unable to spy any whales beyond a small shy minke, Susan never stopped diligently searching (all ships that morning were unable to locate any whales). Susan was determined for us to get up close to some sea life, so she chased down a nursery pod of dolphins & we were literally right by the babies & able to get some cool videos/photos. We even spotted a very large (12 ft or so) shark who was also interested in the baby dolphins - obviously for nefarious reasons! The boat was a smooth ride & a fabulous alternative to the big commercial tour experiences. You will not regret booking with Big Blue Photo Boat - it was truly a once in a lifetime experience & well worth the cost.

Best whale-watching experience ever! Matthias was super kind and flexible, adjusting the time to fit our schedule. Once we were out on the water, he did everything he could to track the whales and get us as close as possible. Seeing both whales and dolphins up close was truly amazing. Highly recommend!
